Tension Tamer

In this 4.5 hour Tension Tamer online self-care series, you will learn somatic movements to relieve chronic tension in your body including your back, neck, shoulders & hips! Lessons are taught from both the floor and a chair to accommodate everyone. No experience is needed. Beginners are welcome!

Includes:

  • Intro to Somatic Yoga lecture: Learn the core principles of somatic yoga, how to use these principles to release chronic tension in your body, and why stretching doesn’t work.

  • Daily somatic yoga sequence

  • 2 different somatic neck & shoulder release sequences

  • Somatic release for shoulders

  • Somatic release for legs & hips

  • Somatic tension release at your desk

  • Guided meditation to relax, reset & renew

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this knowledge-based course, participants will be able to:

 

  1. Recognize the signs and symptoms of chronic stress and anxiety and utilize specific breath, yoga and other self-regulation tools to feel calm and in control

  2. Locate areas of chronic body pain and tension and use specific somatic yoga techniques for relief

  3. Identify when the mind lacks focus and concentration and use meditation techniques and mindfulness to improve focus, concentration, critical thinking and memory

  4. Recognize chronic stress related symptoms in patients and provide them with the self-care education and tools learned in this program to relieve their symptoms and improve well-being

 

CME Accreditation:

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the North Carolina Medical Society (NCMS) through the joint providership of Mountain Area Health Education Center and Stress Free LLC. The Mountain Area Health Education Center is accredited by the NCMS to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

 

Physician Credit:

The Mountain Area Health Education Center designates this live educational activity for a maximum of 4.5 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM.   Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.  

 

Nurse Practitioners:

MAHEC designates this continuing education activity as meeting the criteria for 4.5 contact hours.

 

Physician Assistants:

AAPA accepts certificate of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ from organizations accredited by ACCME or a recognized state medical society. Physician Assistants may receive a maximum of 4.5 hours of Category 1 credit for completing this program.

 

Continuing Education Units:

MAHEC designates these continuing education activities as meeting the criteria for 0.5 CEUs as established by the National Task force on the Continuing Education Unit.  You must attend the entire program to receive CEUs.
